Andare a vivere in un Paese è completamente diverso dal visitarlo in vacanza! Sicuramente durante le vacanze si incontrano molte persone nuove, si scopre una nuova cultura e si impara qualche parola di una lingua straniera…ma quando si vive all’estero per qualche mese, l’esperienza è molto più profonda.

Nell’ultimo mese siamo stati invitati a casa di alcune persone, scoprendo la loro vita quotidiana. Abbiamo anche assistito all’inaugurazione di una Chiesa chiusa da tre anni, un evento che è stato molto emozionante per la gente del posto! Poiché stiamo lavorando con i bambini in alcune attività extrascolastiche, il soggiorno di quattro mesi dà il tempo di conoscere i bambini con cui lavoriamo e di costruire un rapporto di fiducia. Inoltre nell’ultimo mese sono riuscita a migliorare la comprensione dell’italiano iniziando anche a parlarne un po’…

Vivere all’estero è l’occasione di mettersi alla prova in attività insolite, ed ecco le mie tre prime volte di questo mese:

1. Per la prima volta nella mia vita ho mangiato un cachi! Ci sono moltissimi alberi di cachi in tutta la città di Camerino; li ho provati e devo dire che sono troppo buoni!
2. Per la prima volta nella mia vita sono andata a vedere un film in italiano senza sottotitoli….. e ho capito quasi tutto, una prova che il mio italiano sta migliorando! Certo, ne abbiamo scelto uno facile, i film per ragazzi sono i migliori per cominciare, per noi è stato Frozen 2!
3. Per la prima volta nella mia vita ho aiutato a preparare (e naturalmente ho mangiato) della pasta fatta in casa: cosa c’è di più italiano?

Going to live in a country is completely different from visiting it in holidays! Sure during holidays you also meet lot of new people, discover a new culture and learn a few words of an extra language… but when you live abroad for a few months, the experience is way deeper.

Over the last month we have been invited to some people house, discovering their everyday life. We also assisted to the inauguration of a church which had been closed for three years, an event which was really emotionally intense for the local people! As we are working with children in some extracurricular activities, staying four month gives the time to know the kids we work with and to build a trusting relationship.  One month is also the time you need to improve your understanding and begin to speak in Italian.

Living abroad is also the occasion of unusual activities, and here are my three first times of this month:

1. For the first time of my life I ate a persimmon! There are plenty persimmon trees all over the city and I really had to prove them, and they are sooooo good!
2. For the first time of my life I went to see a film in Italian with no subtitle… and I understood almost everything, a proof that my Italian is getting better! Sure we choose an easy one, kids films are the best to begin, for us it was Frozen 2!

3. For the first time of my life I helped to prepare (and I ate of course) some home-made pasta, can you think about something more Italian?
