A pochi giorni dal salutare Camerino, il mio tutor, l’altra volontaria, le persone che abbiamo incontrato durante il progetto… Posso solo dire: “grazie”. Grazie per avermi fatto vivere questa fantastica esperienza, per avermi fatto scoprire questo posto, per avermi dato l’opportunità di conoscere la vostra cultura, per avermi permesso di esplorare la mia creatività e di aver fatto un lavoro significativo. In sintesi, grazie a tutte le persone che hanno partecipato a questo volontariato, che sono, senza dubbio, il valore più prezioso.

Certo, ogni persona è diversa per gusti ed interessi, ma consiglio a tutti di fare un’esperienza di volontariato. In realtà, c’è un’ampia gamma di opzioni, quindi di sicuro è possibile trovare ciò che più si addice. In ogni caso, l’esperienza è sempre unica. Le attività e le condizioni possono cambiare molto, nel nostro caso abbiamo affrontato un volontariato in tempi di pandemia, che ha avuto un impatto sul nostro programma. 

In seguito, nelle ultime settimane di volontariato, le Marche sono passate dalla zona arancione alla zona gialla. Questo significa che i ristoranti possono rimanere aperti fino alle sei e che la mobilità all’interno della regione è di nuovo consentita. Abbiamo deciso di cogliere l’occasione per fare una visita che stavamo aspettando: andare a Macerata, una delle città più importanti della regione. Sempre attenti alle regole di prevenzione, abbiamo potuto incontrare altri volontari di Youthquake e scoprire gli edifici storici della città.

Il giorno dopo, Carla, la nostra padrona di casa, ci ha portato a Tolentino. Lì abbiamo fatto una bella passeggiata attraverso l’Abbadia di Fiastra, situata in una riserva naturale. Dopo di che siamo andati a Civitanova. Questa cittadina sulla spiaggia era piena di luci di Natale. Siamo rimasti stupiti nel vedere quanto fossero affollate le strade rispetto a Camerino, da dove veniamo, che è una città molto tranquilla. 

Dopo questo fine settimana turistico, torna la “routine”, che significa continuare a sviluppare i nostri compiti. E  uso le virgolette perché una delle cose magiche dell’esperienza del volontariato è che la monotonia non esiste. Ogni giorno le attività sono diverse e ti aspettano sorprese inaspettate: questo rende ogni giorno un giorno unico da ricordare.

A few days from say goodbye to Camerino, to my tutor, to the other volunteer, to the people that we have met during the project… I just can say: “thank you”. Thank you for letting me live this fantastic experience, for making me discover this place, for giving me the opportunity to learn about your culture, for allowing me explore my creativity and do a meaningful work. To sum up, thank you to all the persons who had taken part in this volunteering, that are, without doubts, the most precious value.

Of course, every person is different in terms of tastes and interests, but I would recommend to have a volunteering experience to everyone. Actually, there is a wide range of options, so for sure it is possible to find what suits more in each case. Anyway, even though you take part in the same project the experience is never the same. The activities and the conditions can change a lot, in our case we have faced a volunteering in times of a pandemic, that indeed has impacted our program. 

Following on from this, on the last weeks of our volunteering, Le Marche has passed from orange zone to yellow zone. That means that the restaurants can be open until six o’clock and that the mobility inside the region is allowed again. We decided to take the chance to make a visit that we had been waiting for: go to Macerata, one of the most important cities of the region. Always being careful with the prevention rules, we could meet other volunteers of Youthquake and discover the historic buildings of the town.

The next day, Carla, our landlady, took us to Tolentino. There, we had a very nice walk through the Abbadia of Fiastra located in a natural reserve. After this, we went to Civitanova. This beach town was repleted of Christmas lights. We were amazed to see how crowded were the streets compared with Camerino, where we came from, that is a very quiet city. 

After this touristic weekend, the “routine” comes back, that means continuing developing our tasks. And I use quotation marks because one of the magic things about having a volunteering experience is that the monotony doesn’t exists. Everyday the activities are different and unexpected surprises are awaiting you, this makes every day a unique day and a day to remember.
