10April2026 Beirut is calling: are you ready to answer?

Within the #EmergenzaLibano campaign, created to support the civilian population affected by war, Beirut Calling was also born: an appeal addressed to cities, cultural clubs, cinemas, theatres, and cultural spaces around the world to turn solidarity into concrete action.

The goal is simple: to connect distant communities, build bridges between different territories, and restore dignity and hope to those who today are forced to live under bombardment or in displacement.

Among the first cities to respond to this call was Barcelona.

In Lebanon, in recent months, many cultural spaces have been transformed into places of shelter. Our partner Tiro Association for Arts, an organisation that runs independent cinemas and theatres in Beirut, Tyre, and Tripoli—whom we have been working with for some time—has chosen to convert its spaces into shelters for displaced civilians.

Thanks to the #BeirutCallingBarcelona fundraising campaign, we were able to distribute essential goods such as: diapers for children and elderly people, milk and baby food, wipes, shampoo and creams, blankets and towels, hygiene kits, and thermometers. A concrete and necessary form of support.

But how does #BeirutCallingBarcelona work? The Catalan cinema Zumzeig Cinema launched a solidarity initiative in support of the Tiro Association for Arts, activating a special “FILA ZERO” (donation-only ticket). By purchasing a symbolic ticket, people directly contribute to the #EmergenzaLibano campaign, thereby supporting an independent cinema turned into a refuge.

To date, more than 1.5 million people have been forced to leave their homes and seek shelter elsewhere. In this context, every donation counts.
