A working meeting was recently held at the Regional Commission for Agricultural Development (CRDA) of Ben Arous, dedicated to reviewing the progress of the project. The meeting, chaired by the Commissioner of the CRDA of Ben Arous, Ezzeddine Krioui, brought together project representatives and the various institutional stakeholders involved in the activities.

At the centre of the discussions was the definition of the organisational framework for a training programme for future agroecology trainers, targeting CRDA staff, with the aim of strengthening support for farmers engaged in the agroecological transition. Operational aspects were reviewed, including terms of reference, the activity schedule, and the certification system.

The group also discussed the training content, which will include technical modules, communication, and economic sustainability, as well as the possible adoption of the FAO’s “farmer field school” approach. The project foresees a flexible structure, allowing for additional training sessions to be organised according to needs.

Other topics addressed included wastewater treatment at the Mornag facility, the development of composting activities in collaboration with municipalities, and the valorisation of organic waste. The importance of raising farmers’ awareness of the economic benefits of the agroecological transition was also highlighted.

The meeting concluded with an agreement on a set of operational actions, including the definition of training content, strengthened coordination among stakeholders, and preparation for the official launch of the project at governorate level.
