WE NEED AN ACT OF SOLIDARITY!

Our team in the Bekaa Valley, together with Basmeh & Zeitooneh colleagues, is working tirelessly to meet urgent needs: blankets, mattresses, food, diapers, hygiene products, and first aid kits.

In villages across the country, displaced families are being accommodated wherever possible, often in schools, which were closed by the ministry as of yesterday.

From the communities we have been working with daily for over 20 years, we have received an urgent request for support for those in need. We are listening and gathering information from those who have lost everything to offer concrete and immediate help.

Starting at dawn on Monday, September 23, Israeli attacks in southern Lebanon and the Bekaa Valley intensified in a decisive and unprecedented manner. In just 24 hours, the toll surpassed 500 dead, including 35 children, and around 1,700 wounded, with an unprecedented level of shelling.

In addition to the southern and Bekaa cities, particularly the Hermel and Baalbek areas, neighborhoods in southern Beirut and several locations in the Jbeil and Keserwen mountains in the north were also affected.

From the early hours of the day, a massive exodus of people fleeing from the South to the North began, and we are now seeing over 113,000 displaced people. Roads are clogged, and humanitarian organizations, along with ministries, are starting to open shelters in safe zones to accommodate those who have been forced to abandon their homes. It is taking hours to travel just 30 km.

Once again, as in all conflicts, it is the civilian population paying the highest price, watching their lives torn apart and their mental health severely impacted.
